Beautification of Jammu city

Sir,

The drive for beautification of Jammu city, obviously is a step in the right direction which is highly appreciable. Whileas the keen-ness shown for removal of encroachments, proposals for developing Parks, widening or roads and general cleanliness of the city, are all welcome signs to begin with. In this behalf, I myself as Senior citizen, have been aspiring and having been pursuing the concerned authorities, both telephonically and in black and white, but to my dismay there used to be neligible or no response.

Here I would like to mention that for beautification, functioning of Street lighting system and fountains is most essential part and equally important but unfortunately the system which stands installed after spending huge sums of public money has become almost redundant due to sheer neglect by the respective Departments viz. Power Development Dept, Jammu Development Authority.

The working of both items is hopefully poor. In this connection, it is necessary to apprise you that the most important road from Bikram Chowk to Railway Station via Jammu University is without street lights. You are aware that apart from others nearly 50 Lac. Mata Vaishno Devi Ji's pilgrims use this road while coming and going back. Similarly the road from Mahesh Pura Chowk (where a statue of Neta Ji Subash Chander Bose stand erected) to Bakshinagar via Government Medical College, which is pride of Jammu, stands neglected as there is no street light during night. It is not possible for any individual to conduct a survey and furnish details but certainly it is the paramount duty of the concerned to ensure that the lights glitter at night and no area remain in dark owing to some body's negligence.

Approve High School Azmatabad

Sir,

I want to draw the kind attention of the Chief Minister and Minister of Education towards the long pending and genuine demand of the people of village Azmatabad Tehsil Thannamandi District Rajouri.

It is worth to mention here that High School Azmatabad was upgraded during the session 1999-2000 vide DSE No. Edu/STIS/P/746-98 dated 29-4-99 on the recommendation of the then Education Minister through District Development Commissioner Rajouri vide his No. P/S/99-2000/346-49 dated 26-4-99, CEO Rajouri No. 16779-82 dated 2-1-99 and ZEO Thannamandi No. 172 dated 19-5-2000 with the result 9th and 10th classes were allowed in the institution.

Accordingly, the case of Recognition, affiliation was submitted to Chairman J&K State Board of School Education Jammu and same was accorded vide order No. F (ACAD) -Gen, B/JD-99/14023-67 dated 8-10-99, and on the grant of Recognition/Affiliation upto March 2003, the students of 9th and 10th classes appeared in the Board Examinations.

But unfortunately, the same was not approved by the previous Govt. on political differences due to which the people of remotest area were cheated by the Govt. It is a long pending and genuine demand of the people to approve the High School Azmatabad which is functioning as High School since 1999-2000. Due to non approval, the career of the coming generation is at stake if it was not given formal approval.

It is prayed for personal intervention into the metter, and to fulfill the genuine demand as part of healing touch programme so that the tiny soul who are in the State frustration may not suffer more.

Woes of pensioners

Sir,

I would like to apprise the concerned authorities that as usual many a pensioners move to Jammu or other parts of the country during winter season either on their health grounds or accompanying with their kiths and kins who move here on Darbar Move.

Amongst them such of the pensioners, who received their pensions through banks, have already made arrangement for the receipt of their pensions at their present temporary place or residence through banking network.

Because of their this posture it will be hard for such pensioners to go back to the Valley and get their pension papers, PPOs etc. verified there.

As per the orders if the verification of PPOs etc. is not got completed by a pensioner their pension shall automatically get stopped for payment till such date verification is completed by him. This posture will put the pensioners to great difficulties and their survival will be hampered.

In view of the above it is hoped that the restriction of stopping the pension payment may please be deferred till Darbar move is over and they go back to the Valley. This is public interests and we endorse the verification and uphold such a decision by the Government.

Yours etc...
