Develop Dachhan as a tourist spot

Sir,

There is well known sayings about Kashmir that if there is a paradise on the land, it is there. No doubt Kashmir is a very beautiful valley, but there is a big hand behind its beautification and it is of the timely care taken by governing powers right from the Mughals up till now. But there is one more hidden paradise which has always been ignored and neglected and that is Dachhan. This piece of land lies in the north of Kishtwar. It is 52 kms from the tehsil headquarter. It begins from Patimhala and ends in Jeem Madaan in Kiyar Nallah the base point of Nunkhun Peak. The ever challenging Brahma peak is the back bone of the valley. It is sub divided into five regions by three streamlets and one river (Maru Sudher). That is why its central village has been given the name of Panjdhara.

The streams are Kiyar Nallah, Nanth Nallah and Kibar Nallah. Besides these streams, there are numerous brooks, cold and hot springs through out the valley. It is surrounded by sky touching peaks with rich vegetations and valuable trees. Mushroom, walnuts, forest almonds, horse chestnuts, zeera and other roots are the main commercial products of the area. It is also a fertile land which produces paddy, wheat, maize, chini, kangni and phoolan besides the vegetables. It has more than 20,000 population and only two communities Hindu and Muslims are living like brothers in real sense. The scenary of Satarchin, Jeem Madaan, Kalandhar and Lovmarag is quite enchanting. One can experience there the beauty of a flowers, amazing kingdom of pet animals, and a safe home of rare races of wild animals wonderful birds and spots of centuries old ice under which the prominent above mentioned streams flow down.

If the Centre and State Governments utilise the source of these streams it could provide electricity at a very low budget and without displacement of the people, but who will bell the cat? It seems that Government is not interested to take up the two projects of Pakal and Hanzat of 2150 MW capacity. There is one wild life sanctuary with 425 kms land and financed by the Centre but of no use. It is merely in papers. Instead of any utility, it has become a big hurdle. Because so far there is national park there can be no road into the area and where there is no road there is no development in respect of constructions, proper check up and supervision.

The valley is famous for Hud Matta and ancient Ram Temple. All these are situated on Satarchina meadow about 12 thousand feet high from the sea level. Trisandhia is worth seeing place where a spring flows down out of a rock at a height of 14 thousand feet thrice a day. Men and animal both pet and wild are always waiting anxiously to drink and bath with this holy water. Of course, one is bound to have such Darshan only over here in the world. If the Government takes interest to develop this valley it has to construct the road first and as soon the road is constructed, it will be developed as a matchless on in the country with regard to pilgrimage, health resort and natural beauty.

It is unfortunate that the successive Governments did not/are not paying any attention to this beautiful place, because it falls in Jammu Division. However, it is appealed to the present Government to pay attention to this place and develop it under the tourism department.

Peace talks

Sir,

We had always been crowned with gallant victory in the wars so far fought by us. But we always lost during negotiations. We received serious set backs and suffered irreparable losses out of peace talks and humorous gestures.

In 1947 Pak forces attacked J&K State and squeezed the state forces by capturing a big part of its territory. Based on the accord with Maharaja, Indian forces entered the state. Our forces not only stopped Pak advancement, but pushed back their forces by about 20 kms from the present LoC.

During peace talks with Pak, cease fire was agreed upon. We seriously implemented the accord and ceased fire on ground whereas Pak implemented it only in words as per her basic policy of double standard. We silenced our guns and chose moving back being afraid of violation of accord and on the other hand Pak guns roared with double force making fast advancement quite UN-afraid of the accord. This way we dragged back the LoC by 20 kms and allowed Pak to make Kashmir as an ‘issue’. Merely a couple of days’ business without negotiations would have avoided Kashmir being divided into pieces and it would have been peaceful state of India thus making whole of the India as peaceful. In short we are continuously suffering for the last 55 years just because of negotiations.

We conquered Haji Pir and so many other points and areas of Def importance during 1965. The peace talks made us retreat.

We conquered East Pakistan in 1971 and created a record of making one lakh Pak soldiers to surrender before Indian Army. The biggest victory of the earth also proved disappointing just because of our humorous gestures and peace talks.

During our talks of Agra summit, we made ‘Kashmir issue’ as an international issue by inviting the entire world media in this summit under-estimating Musharraf as an Army general only. Not only this, we bestowed the long awaited recognition to Pak general as the bonafide head of the country through world media who till then was considered to have grabbed the power out of an Army revolt. Even her friend America had not granted him recognition till then.

America had overwhelming sympathy towards India on 11 Sep 2001 considering us to be the second victim of terrorism after America. On the other hand, Pakistan was the second target of America after Afghanistan for sposoring and spreading terrorism. The condition of Pakistan at one stage was so critical that loaded guns were pointed at Musharraf from all the four corners and he was left with no way out because President Bush had clearly announced that in his campaign to root out terrorism from the globe, he will also attack the countries supporting terrorism. Gen Musharraf proved to be so clever and shrewd that he came out of the tangle with laurels and credentials. On the other hand, we, in spite of our genuine condition, fairmost dealings, uprightness, firmness and other attributes, lacked the priority in American sympathies and friendship over Pakistan.

The above experiences reveal that in our diplomatic initiations and negotiations we become over optimistic and forget to take care of the other side of the coin. Consequences and after effects of our negotiations and humorous gestures had always been to our disadvantage. It is the result of our incorrect calculations and wanting fore-sightedness during negotiations and peace talks that we are now confronted to the present sate; of affairs. Not only our enemies but our friends in garb are also out to make use of the situation. We thus jeopardize our future while handling our present.

Yours etc...
