Develop
Dachhan as a tourist spot
Sir,
There is
well known sayings about Kashmir that if
there is a paradise on the land, it is
there. No doubt Kashmir is a very
beautiful valley, but there is a big hand
behind its beautification and it is of
the timely care taken by governing powers
right from the Mughals up till now. But
there is one more hidden paradise which
has always been ignored and neglected and
that is Dachhan. This piece of land lies
in the north of Kishtwar. It is 52 kms
from the tehsil headquarter. It begins
from Patimhala and ends in Jeem Madaan in
Kiyar Nallah the base point of Nunkhun
Peak. The ever challenging Brahma peak is
the back bone of the valley. It is sub
divided into five regions by three
streamlets and one river (Maru Sudher).
That is why its central village has been
given the name of Panjdhara.
The
streams are Kiyar Nallah, Nanth Nallah
and Kibar Nallah. Besides these streams,
there are numerous brooks, cold and hot
springs through out the valley. It is
surrounded by sky touching peaks with
rich vegetations and valuable trees.
Mushroom, walnuts, forest almonds, horse
chestnuts, zeera and other roots are the
main commercial products of the area. It
is also a fertile land which produces
paddy, wheat, maize, chini, kangni and
phoolan besides the vegetables. It has
more than 20,000 population and only two
communities Hindu and Muslims are living
like brothers in real sense. The scenary
of Satarchin, Jeem Madaan, Kalandhar and
Lovmarag is quite enchanting. One can
experience there the beauty of a flowers,
amazing kingdom of pet animals, and a
safe home of rare races of wild animals
wonderful birds and spots of centuries
old ice under which the prominent above
mentioned streams flow down.
If the
Centre and State Governments utilise the
source of these streams it could provide
electricity at a very low budget and
without displacement of the people, but
who will bell the cat? It seems that
Government is not interested to take up
the two projects of Pakal and Hanzat of
2150 MW capacity. There is one wild life
sanctuary with 425 kms land and financed
by the Centre but of no use. It is merely
in papers. Instead of any utility, it has
become a big hurdle. Because so far there
is national park there can be no road
into the area and where there is no road
there is no development in respect of
constructions, proper check up and
supervision.
The valley
is famous for Hud Matta and ancient Ram
Temple. All these are situated on
Satarchina meadow about 12 thousand feet
high from the sea level. Trisandhia is
worth seeing place where a spring flows
down out of a rock at a height of 14
thousand feet thrice a day. Men and
animal both pet and wild are always
waiting anxiously to drink and bath with
this holy water. Of course, one is bound
to have such Darshan only over here in
the world. If the Government takes
interest to develop this valley it has to
construct the road first and as soon the
road is constructed, it will be developed
as a matchless on in the country with
regard to pilgrimage, health resort and
natural beauty.
It is
unfortunate that the successive
Governments did not/are not paying any
attention to this beautiful place,
because it falls in Jammu Division.
However, it is appealed to the present
Government to pay attention to this place
and develop it under the tourism
department.
Yours
etc...
