JAMMU, Aug 16: Army today gunned down four hardcore militants of Al Badr and HUJI outfits in two separate encounters in Thanna Mandi in Rajouri district while the ultras killed two civilians and torched houses of two others. An army jawan also sacrificed his life while two others were injured in the operations...........more

JAMMU, Aug 16: In a writ petition challenging the transfers of Patwaris in Jammu city, Justice RC Gandhi of the State High Court, in a significant order, has stayed the operation of the impugned transfer orders issued by Financial Commissioner Revenue and further directed the Vigilance Commissioner to register FIR and conduct enquiry with regard to the allegations leveled at the Bar for issuance of the impugned order.............more

JAMMU, Aug 16: Chance arrest of a Hizbul Mujahideen militant during an encounter with a police party at Basantgarh has given police a breakthrough in two grenade explosions at Gulshan’s langar near Ban Ganga, about one km from Katra town, on July 21 night in which six pilgrims of Mata Vaishnodevi were killed and 38 others were injured..................more
