Waterlogging at Jammu airport irks passengers

JAMMU, July 11: Heavy rains today morning led to waterlogging in the airport at Jammu, which has irked the passengers.
Officials said rain water accumulated near the main entry of the Jammu Airport due to recent beautification of the RS Pura road by PWD and departure and arrivals gates of the airport.

The water logging however not affected the working of x-ray machines used for security check installed at the airport, but passengers faced worst experience while entering the departure hall after crossing the security check, they said.
“The water logging affected normal passengers’ movement especially by those, who have their flights in the morning between 7 am to 10: 30 am”, sources said, adding that Jammu airport staff members including engineers and other staff were put in to drain out the accumulated water and provide sigh of relief to the passengers.
The main reason of the water logging was recent beautification of the Jammu airport road and wrongly construction of the drainage system at departure and arrival gates of the airport, sources informed.
When contacted, DK Gautam, Director, Jammu Airport said that prompt action was taken to drain out the water logged areas of the airport.
“Alternate arrangements have been made to drain out the accumulated water during rains in future and issue also stands taken up with PWD authorities, which has beautified the Jammu airport road recently”, he added.
