Water Security Plan for Sudh Mahadev, Mansar being prepared

Udhampur, Feb 20: Dis-trict Development Commis-sioner Niraj Kumar today held a meeting to discuss the modalities for preparation of Water Security Plan for Sudh Mahadev and Mansar villages,  here today.
During the meeting, the DDC was apprised that initially Water Security Plan would be implemented in the two pilot villages, namely, Sudh Mahadev and Mansar and subsequently the plan would be extended to other villages also. The objective of formulating the Water Security Plan is to ensure sufficient supply of drinking water to the rural population, said the DDC.
He asked the concerned officers to conduct survey in order to identify different sources of water present in these villages and directed the concerned officers to   involve local people in the preparation of the plan.
The DDC further stressed upon the concerned officers to include water budgeting in the plan to ensure optimum utilization of water and asked them to create awareness regarding various water conservation techniques like use of surface water, rain water harvesting, roof water collection etc. He also asked them to hold public meetings and awareness camps for ensuring the same.
Regarding reducing the wastage of water, the DDC stressed on the need for installation of water meters.
