ANANTNAG, Aug 1: Making availability of safe drinking water, electricity and better road connectivity is the priority of present Government and every possible step is being taken in this regard.
This was stated by Minister for Tourism G.A. Mir at a review meeting at Town Hall Dooru today. The meeting was attended by Chief Engineers, and other concerned officers.
The meeting reviewed the drinking water facilities especially in and around Dooru town. Various demands were put forth by different public deputations, some of which were addressed during the meeting.
The Minister directed for laying of a separate water pipe-line from present S.R. at Shergadi as a short term measure so that the water scarcity for “Senpora” Dooru is resolved.
It was also given out in the meeting that a multipurpose drinking water supply project has been sanctioned for Arabal and Wathrau which will suffice the need of two localities.
Mr. Mir also said that under centrally sponsored scheme UISSMT, Rs 25 crore project has been submitted to the Central Government for its approval with regard to Dooru town. On approval it will help suffice the needs of the Dooru town to a larger extent, he added.
The Minister also visited the under construction tunnel at Ujroo where the existing water pipe line has been affected. Chief Engineer PHE gave on the spot instructions for its temporary rectification.
Minister also visited various localities including Ujroo, Hiller and Check and assured the concerned that their genuine demands will be looked into on priority.
Minister said that the Government has taken various steps for resolving the public problems which has paved way for better Healthcare and education facilities across the state. Various educational and health institutions have been upgraded and many have been opened afresh resulting in better facilities for common people.
