KISHTWAR, Feb 6: Water crisis has irked the residents of various areas in the district.
Large number of residents hailing from Kuleed, Wasser, Zewar, Pabditgam, Poohi, Zelana and Berwar areas alleged that the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department has failed to restore Naigad water scheme, which got damaged due to landslide around two weeks back.
“Several times we intimated the concerned authorities about the problems being faced by them due to non-availability of drinking water, but nothing has been done till date”, they added.
The casual approach of the concerned department is forcing them to come on roads and lodge protest against the department, they stated.
If the department failed to restore this water scheme at the earliest, then residents will come on roads and for any untoward incident, the department will be responsible, the residents warned.
When contacted Xen Hydraulic Division, Kishtwar, Abdul Wahid Zargar said that due to snowfall the Naigad water scheme got damaged. He added that they are on the job and within couple of days, the water supply will be restored.
“People are getting drinking water through water tankers and through lift also”, he informed.
