Wakhloo asks civil society to maintain status of woman

JAMMU, Feb 18: Chairperson, J&K Social Welfare Board (JKSWB) Khem Lata Wakhloo today called upon civil society to maintain the status of women at all costs and create a secure and safe atmosphere for them to contribute in transformation and progress of the society
The chairperson was speaking as chief guest after inaugurating 2-day workshop on ‘Kalam Se Camera Tak’ organized today by Montage Films ‘Nari’ Samvad in collaboration with Government College for Women, Parade to make the students aware about film production and its scope.
Renowned personality in the field of literature and Film Production Rama Pandey and Lavlin Thadani were the resource persons for the workshop.
Member Legislative Council (MLC), Vijay Bakaya, Principal GCW Parade Prof (Dr.) Hamla Aggarwal, Social Activists Prof. Rita Jatendra and Mr. Nazam Saqib, besides faculty members, students, teaching and non-teaching staff members were also present in large numbers at the inaugural function.
Mrs. Wakhloo highlighted the issues of womenfolk and educated them about their rights and duties as well. She said that sex determination test and female feoticides are the worst crimes of modern society and a blanket ban should be imposed on such practices.
Appreciating the college authorities for organizing such a mega event in the interest of students, she called upon the young girls to draw inspiration from the women personalities present who have contributed a lot in art and culture.
In his address, Vijay Bakaya appreciated the initiatives taken by Rama Pandey in educating the students about their rights in their life. He stressed upon the students to try their hand in creative and art works. Rama Pandey in her keynote address said that J&K is full of creative ability and she was committed to encourage and nurture the youth of J&K with creative excellence.
Mr. Najam-ul-Saqib presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
