VRS employees stage protest against SRTC

JAMMU, Nov 13: All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association staged a protest demonstration this morning near Press Club, Jammu against State SRTC for not clearing their pending dues.
Addressing the protesting VRS employees, president, VRS Union, Dev Raj Bali strongly criticized the attitude of SRTC and higher authorities of Transport department towards VRS and GHS employees of State SRTC.

He said that State Finance department in its order dated 23-10-2017 asked the J&K SRTC to dispose off the unviable assets to clear the outstanding dues of VRS/GHS employees of SRTC. He said why the Finance department as well as J&K SRTC is making fun of VRS/GHS employees.
Bali said that they were given VRS/GHS on the assurance of the Government that their dues will be cleared within 60 days from the date of VRS/GHS. Moreover, he said that Government in its order No 103-F of 2013 dated 10-04-2013 has asked the Finance department to release funds for clearing pending dues of VRS/GHS employees but till now this order has been clearly violated.
The Union appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene into the matter and pass appropriate directions to the concerned authorities so that the VRS/GHS employees may get their pending dues. The union leaders also reiterated other demands which include clearing COLA arrears since 1999, release of 6th Pay Commission arrears with effect from January 1, 2006 and pension benefits.
