Addressing a press conference here today, Dev Raj Bali, president of the union said that their own department is doing injustice with us, as on one hand their services have gone and on the other hand their dues, which were promised to be cleared within 60 days from the date of VRS and GHS, are still pending.
He strongly criticized the discriminating attitude of SRTC department towards VRS and GHS employees and demanded to clear all their pending dues including COLA arrears since 1999, 6th Pay Commission arrears with effect from January 1, 2006, pension benefits and bonus @ 8.33 % on the basic pay.
Bali said that in their 7-year-long struggle, about 38 VRS/ GHS employees breathed their last, as they could not afford treatment of various diseases they were suffering from due to want of funds. He said that on 28th of last month they met Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu, MoS Transport, Sunil Kumar Sharma and Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta in Civil Secretariat, Jammu and apprised of their long pending demands.
He said that the Speaker as well as two ministers had assured them in the meeting that they will put their demands in the ensuing Budget Session, and expressed hope that the two Ministers will not forget their promise and highlight their issues in the ongoing Budget Session.
