Vox Populi gets underway at Jodhamal

JAMMU, Apr 27: Jammu Chapter of Vox Populi was witnessed by13 schools of Jammu & Kashmir today at Jodhamal Public School, here.
All the 13 schools were ready to experience the biggest ever Debating Phenomenon at Jodhamal Public School.
Principal, Trilok Singh Bist told the dignitaries that Vox Populi – the common man’s voice is the biggest debating phenomenon, which has travelled to almost 25 states by now and hosted by the most elite schools all over the India.
The first day of Vox Populi saw Simrandeep Singh, the Chairman of SSB as the chief guest who appreciated the unconventional format of the debate as he himself is a change manager in his own field. Rohini Aima, Principal cum Vice Chairperson of Jammu Sanskriti school was the guest of honour along with TR Ramesh, Principal of Banyan International School. Nandan Kuthiala was the Presiding Officer for the opening ceremony.
The founder of Vox Populi, a young and dynamic scholar from VIT, Shreyansh Bhalotia had chosen Jodhamal School as the venue for the J&K Chapter of Vox Populi as JMPS is ranked No 1 School in the J&K State by the Education World for three years in a row and he did a Training Session for the students as to how to hone up the debating skills to develop the soft skills which will be needed when a child lands up in the job market.
Vox Populi is an unconventional debating platform for each and every child.
Mr Bist said that this is for the first time in the history of J&K that almost 450 debating students are coming together to experience an altogether a new phenomenon of the modern day debating.
The schools which participated included DPS Udhampur, APS Domana, Heritage School, GD Goenka, KC Public, KC International, Jammu Sanskriti, Model Academy, Banyan International School, Presentation Convent and  Doon International School.
The two keynote speakers of the day were Trilok Singh Bist from Jodhamal and Ram Thakur, Academic Director of KC Public School. The topics of the day for the debate were We have to limit international exposure to our society; There should be equal land and water on earth; Westernization by Indians and Indianisation of the West is one of the biggest Indian paradox; The grass is always greener on the other side;The herd mentality helps Indian businesses; Mughals were better than Britishers; Aliens should take over the Earth; Can India not unite for anything other than cricket; World War 3 is an ongoing war; Technologically forward yet ethically backward is not just an Indian problem anymore and Pitch an Education Sector startup.
Present on the occasion were Nandan Kuthiala, Arati Kuthiala, Pooja Panthri, Rashi Magotra and the escort teachers from all 13 schools.
