Volleyball tournament gets underway

POONCH, Mar 28: Contin-uing with the J&K Police’s endeavour to strengthen police-public relations and to promote sports activities among the youth, a Volleyball Tournament, being organized by District Police Poonch got underway at Sports Stadium, here today.
The Tournament is being held under Civic Action Programme (CAP), in order to provide platform to the youths of the area to show their talents, and sensitize them against the evil effects of the drugs and other criminal activities.
SSP Poonch Rajiv Pandey inaugurated the tournament,  while DySP Hqrs Mohan Sharma, DySP Ops Saleem Bhatt, DySP Daleep Singh, media persons and large number of students and non students were present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, SSP Poonch said that police is organizing various programmes under Civic Action Programme in order to bridge the gap between police and public. He further said sports activities are organized to keep the youth mentally and physically fit and to chanalize the youth energy in right direction as well as to keep them away from the drug abuses.
The winning teams were awarded with a cash prize and a trophy.
