JAMMU, May 23: All J&K Village Level Workers (VLWs)/ Multi Purpose Workers (MPWs) Coordination Committee today highlighted their demands in a press briefing held here.
The leaders of the coordination committee said that 177 new CD Blocks were created in the year 2014 but the most important and necessary post of Panchayat Inspector was not created, due to which the Panchayats’ secretaries are becoming overburdened and not able to perform as per their efficiency.
They further said that at one stage the VLWs, Patwaris and Teachers were placed in the same pay scale but now VLWs are far behind than Patwaris and Teachers in respect of Pay Grade whereas work and assignments allotted to VLWs increased day by day. So, it is demanded by VLWs to enhance initial Pay Grade of VLWs/MPWs equivalent to Patwaris and Teachers.
“MPWs are deprived of in-situ promotion and despite submitting representations to the higher authorities in this connection by Multi Purpose Workers’ Union, Government did not pay any heed to their demands”, they alleged and urged the Government to give a sympathetic view to their genuine demands.
