JAMMU, June 23: A Vishal Dangal was held at village Megain, organized by Meeru Ram with the cooperation of villagers of village Megain, Magiote, and villagers of surrounding villages .
A total of 52 bouts were held between the wrestlers drawn from Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.
Prizes worth Rs 5 lakh were distributed among the wrestlers on the occasion.
The main bout was held between Abdul Gani of Malyer Kotla and Peenda of Gurdaspur, wherein Abdul Gani emerged winner to bag a cash prize of Rs 1,31,000, while the second main bout was held between Benia Min of Basantgarh and Palla of Himachal Pradesh, which was won by Benia Min to win a cash prize of Rss 1,15,000.
Earlier, the Dangal was inaugurated by the chief guest Balwant Singh Mankotia, former MLA, while Ghar Singh, Senior Petition Writer and Lamberdaar of village Magiote was the guest of honour.
On the occasion, Ghar Singh donated Rs 11,000 to the event through Dangal Committee, while Balwant Singh Mankotia donated Rs 21,000 to Dangal Committee.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Vinod Kumar, Lamberdaar Village Megain,  Mulkh Raj Bhamagi, Kuldeep Sharma, Mahadeep Singh, Kalidass, Ramesh Kumar and Darshan Sharma.
Kud dance presented by Subash Chander Bhagat and Party of Panjer enthralled the audience on the occasion.
