Viraj Kala Kendra organizes art exhibition

JAMMU, Dec 6: Viraj Kala Kendra (VKK) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and Kala Kendra, Jammu, has organized an art exhibition at Kala Kendra, Bikram Chowk, Jammu today.
The exhibition was inaugurated by  Kavinder Gupta,  Speaker, Legislative Assembly, J&K in the presence of Padamshree Mohd  Yousaf Taing, former Director General Culture, J&K State,  Prof  Rita Jitendra, former Secretary, JKAACL, Dr  Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, Prof  Sarla Kohli, vice president, VKK and  Raj Bharti, president, VKK.
The exhibits of importance of folk art, heritage and contemporary art have been displayed in this exhibition. Intellectuals and artists attended the inaugural ceremony.
The senior and young artists, whose works have been displayed in the exhibition, included Jang S Verman, Ganesh Sharma, Milan Sharma, Chander Parkash, Sonu Agarwal, Jugal Kishore, Amrot Kaur, Renu Malhotra, Risha Singh, Jasleen Singh, Narinder Singh, Narinder Kumar, Vikas Dogra and others. The works in the contemporary section depicted various themes developed in different techniques and mediums. In the traditional, folk and heritage the folk art paintings, costumes, utensils and antique objects have been displayed.
While speaking on this occasion, Kavinder Gupta agreed that there was a need to cope up with the problems faced by the artist fraternity and the art world. He said that these may be projected at different platforms like in the Assembly during the coming session and a discussion might take place to draw the attention of the concerned agencies to sort out the issues.
Earlier Prof Rita Jitendra said that there should be a provision of sound proof hall or auditorium so that quality programmes like plays and conferences or seminars might be conducted there.  Mohd. Yousaf Taing said that the exhibition is a great homage to a great sculpture. He added that the name of Late V R Khajuria will be remembered by the coming generations for his contribution.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn extended vote of thanks.  O P Sharma, Director Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts, conducted proceedings of the programmme.
