Villagers protest against re-opening of wine shop, bar

UDHAMPUR, Nov 30: Up in arms against re-opening of the wine shop and bar in their locality, villagers of Panchari held a strong protest demonstration demanding immediate seizure of and shop and bar.
The protest was held under the banner of Lander Bamag Panchari United Front. The protesting villagers raised slogans in support of their demand and threatened to continue the struggle till permanent closure of wine shop as well as the bar.
The locals said that a wine shop and bar in their area were nuisance for public, particularly woman folk and the school going children. They alleged that an attempt was being made to influence the villagers and allow re-opening of the wine shop but they would never allow the same.
Wine shop will bring a negative impact on the young generation and spoil the healthy atmosphere of the society, they said and claimed that since the opening of wing shop and bar in their area, the crime rate has increased.
It may be recalled that the said wine shop and bar were earlier closed on the orders of concerned authorities following strong protests by the villagers. However, both the outlets were found re-opened two days back.
