UDHAMPUR, Dec 15: Villagers of Panchari held a strong protest demonstration demanding immediate closure and seizure of recently opened wine shop and bar there.
The protest was held under the banner of Panchari Lander Bamag United Front. The protesting villagers raised slogans in support of their demand and threatened to continue the struggle till permanent closure of wine shop as well as the bar.
The locals said that a wine shop and bar in their area was nuisance for public, particularly woman folk and the school going children. They alleged that an attempt was being made to influence the villagers to allow re-opening of the wine shop but they would never allow the same.
“Wine shop will bring a negative impact on the young generation and spoil the healthy atmosphere of the society;” they said and claimed that since the opening of wing shop and bar in their area, the crime rate has increased.
The said wine shop and bar were earlier closed on the orders of concerned authorities following strong protests by the villagers. However, both the outlets were found re-opened few days back.
