Villagers protest as accident victim dies due to non-availability of doctor

UDHAMPUR, Sept 22: Following death of an accident victim allegedly due to no timely treatment because of non-availability of doctors in nearby Health Centres, villagers of Panara in Majalta tehsil held a strong protest demonstration against the Health Department.
The protesting villagers blocked the National Highway and demanded stern action against the erring doctors. They also raised slogans against the Health Department and district administration.
10 year old Divyanshi Gupta, a student of 4th standard and daughter of Sandeep Gupta of Panara was hit by a speeding bus JK14B-3171 when she was crossing the road. The victim was immediately rushed to PHC Panara and then to CHC Majalta but due to non-availability of doctors at both the Health Centres, she could not be provided the required medical aid. Thereafter, the family members shifted her to Military Hospital, Udhampur but due to excess bleeding, she succumbed to her injuries after some time.
Agitated over death of the minor girl due to non availability of doctors at the Health Centres, the villagers and family members of the deceased held a strong protest demonstration. They also accused the administration of no action despite repeated demand of a speed breaker at the site, where the mishap had taken place.
Later, Tehsildar Majalta Ved Parkash and SHO, Majalta Sajjad Haider reached the protesting villagers and pacified them by assuring to take up their issues with the concerned authorities.
On their assurance, the protesters dispersed off and vehicular movement was restored on the National Highway.
