KATHUA, Mar 25: Senior Congress leader and the party’s candidate from Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Parliamentary seat, Vikramaditya Singh today promised to address the development deficit which the region is facing for the last four years.
“My focus shall be on changing the development profile of the constituency with prolific outreach thus providing opportunity to each and every individual to get the bounty of progress in terms of public infrastructure, education, healthcare, potable water and electricity besides making people’s life convenient through containing ever increasing inflation which is behind all the miseries of common masses”, he said during a brief media interaction after filing the nomination papers for the Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Parliamentary seat.
Hitting hard at the dubious character of BJP’s leadership both at the Centre and the State, he categorically castigated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for doing nothing meaningful for the people of the country except giving lip-service. “Whatever experiments Modi did with the country simply boomeranged whether it was demonetization, Kashmir imbroglio, GST implementation, job avenues, respite to border dwellers, prices of petroleum products or other essentials, his so-called magic-wand failed on all fronts”, he said, adding that it was Congress only which can responsibly steer the nation to surmounting heights that too by taking care of the poorest of poor and the rich as well.
Vikramaditya Singh said that the tie-up between PDP-BJP failed in the State because various components of coalition were bonded by the lust of power bereft of any ideological understanding. He said three and half years of BJP rule in the State led to an administrative anarchy and chaos and brought the process of development in the State to a standstill. “I resigned from PDP as Dogra land was highly neglected. I raised these demands at the best of my capability but the party leadership didn’t listen. The denial of holiday on account of Maharaja Hari Singh’s Birthday is also one of the reasons of quitting PDP,” he added.
Vikramaditya Singh promised that if voted to power at the Centre, Congress will empower the youth and women in the State so as to take J&K on the path of growth and development.
“Our focus shall be on creating State and district wise micro development plan. Leader would have weekly Chaupal, online feedback service, special promotion for Dogra language, Dogra Radio channel, sports promotion for youth, national mission to eradicate intoxication, special push for deconjection traffic and water sanitation plan,” he said.
