Vikramaditya orders inquiry; suspends 2 Pujaries, 2 guards

JAMMU, May 25: Taking serious note of a video- which has gone viral in the social media, Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and Trustee JK Dharmarth Trust, Vikramaditya Singh today suspended two Pujaries and two guards of Shri Raghunathji Temple who were present at the time of incident. Singh has also directed to install CCTV cameras and other gadgets to ensure a close vigil in the historic temple.
An incident of alleged misbehaviour by Pujaris with devotees at Shri Raghunath Ji Temple complex came to the notice of Vikramaditya Singh. The MLC had also seen the videos of the complainants describing the alleged incident unfortunate.
Vikramaditya said that he had taken serious note of this incident and shared the concerns and anguish of the devotees. Subsequently, he directed JK Dharmarth Trust officials to investigate and inquire this particular incident.
Following the investigation, the JK Dharmarth Trust has taken action and suspended with immediate effect two pujaries and two guards who were present at the time of the incident which took place in the evening of May 23.
Vikramaditya Singh said that a further enquiry and detailed report with recommendations and responsibilities will be submitted to him within seven days by the secretary, JK Dharmarth Trust to avoid such type of incidents in the future. He also added that the Trust is undertaking steps to address such issues including the recently installed CCTV surveillance and security systems in the Temple complex.
Vikramaditya also said that they were trying to contact and reach out to the complainants who had to suffer this unfortunate incident. He further extended his deepest regret and sincere apologies to them. The Shri Raghunath Ji Temple complex (maintained and managed by the J&K Dharmarth Trust) in the heart of Jammu city attracts lakhs of tourists and devotees.
