JAMMU, Jan 23: Minister of State for Technical Education, Power and Information, Vikar Rasool today said that 19 Industrial Training Institutes (ITI’s) will be opened in uncovered areas to impart technical training to rural youth in job oriented trades.
The Minister was interacting with students and staff after inaugurating women’s hostel at Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, Jammu constructed by J&K Housing Board at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore.
Secretary Technical Education, Parvez Malik, Director Technical Education, J P Singh, Managing Director J&K Housing Board Rampaul and other officers of Technical Education were present on the occasion.
Mr. Vikar said that the Government has undertaken a comprehensive programme to expand the reach of Technical Education and in this regard several new polytechnics and ITIs have been established throughout the state to impart much needed skills to youth, who in future can set up their own industrial units and contribute in employment generation.
The Minister said that under Skill Development for Youth (SDY) thousands of youth have been sent to different states of the country to get training in different trades and then absorbed in public and private sector. He said that it was endeavour of the Government to ensure that the skilled human resource of the state is provided the job opportunities in and outside the state.
Mr. Vikar said that clear instructions have been passed to the executing agencies to ensure that the pace of work on various polytechnics and ITIs being constructed by the department of Technical Education is speeded up to benefit youth living in far-flung and remote areas of the State.
