Vijaypur Warriors, Kathua Hockey Club register victories

JAMMU, Jan 19: Defeating their rivals convincingly, Vijay Warriors Hockey Club and Kathua Hockey Club, Lachipora moved into the next round of the ongoing Baba Fateh Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament 2017, being organized by Hockey J&K at KK Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, here today.
In the first match, Vijaypur Warriors defeated MBS Club Simbal Camp by two goals to one (2-1). Nikhil Randhawa scored the first goal for Vijaypur Club in the 40th minute, while the second goal was scored by Manjeet Singh in 59th minute. The lone goal for MBS Club was netted by Gursimran Singh early in the 17th minute.
In another match, Kathua Hockey Club blanked Bagh-i-Bein Hockey Club, Gole Gujral by four goals to nil (4-0). Harjot Singh scored the first and second goal in 2nd and 7th minutes, while the other two goals were scored by Rajesh and Harpreet Singh in 10th and 50th minutes respectively.
The match was officiated by Karanjit Singh, JS Reen, Joginder Singh and Satvir Singh.
Ajit Singh, Deputy Director Sports Authority of India was the chief guest, while prominent among others present on the occasion were Rajinder Singh, GS Bakshi, MS Reen and Gurmeet Kour.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Zorawar Club Satwari will take on KSS Club at 12 noon, while Young Star Simbal Camp will face Hiranagar Hockey Club at 2:30 pm.
