Vigilance books R&B officials

SRINAGAR, Feb 14: Vigilance Organisation Kashmir has booked officers and officials of R&B Division Kupwara for purchasing material on exorbitant rates and thus causing loss to State exchequer.
A case FIR No. 04/2017 P/S VOK has been registered against Mohammad Sultan Sheikh, the then Executive Engineer R&B Division Kupwara (now retired), Ab Gani Bhat, the then Head Draftsman R&B Division Kupwara presently PMGSY Kupwara,   Mohammad Anwar Untoo, the then Draftsman presently Head Draftsman R&B Division Kupwara and Mohammad Maqbool Dar, Draftsman R&B Division Kupwara.
The case was registered on the basis of a verification conducted into the allegations that during the period 2010-11, these officers and officials of R&B Division Kupwara affected the purchase of crate mesh 4’’ x 4’’, 16’’x16’’ made out of 2.5 mm B.A wire 160 rolls measuring 40960 Sqfts. on the exorbitant rate of Rs 14/- per Kg. amounting to Rs 1, 34,764/-. Moreover, during the course of verification, it was also established that the R&B Division Kupwara in the same period had purchased 112 number of sign boards from one Sadat Enterprises Industrial Estate Branwari Kupwara at an exorbitant rate of Rs  1208.92 per sign Board amounting to Rs 1,35,399/-. Thus by purchasing the crate mesh and sign boards on exorbitant rates, these officials put the State Exchequer to the loss of Rs.2, 70,163/-.
The omission and commissions on the part of these public servants constitute offences punishable U/S 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C. Act Svt. 2006 and section 120-B, RPC.
In this behalf Case FIR No. 04/2017 P/S VOK was registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir and further investigation taken up.
