JAMMU, Feb 14:  With the objective to commemorate the 71st Martyrdom Day of Jamadar Parkash Singh Chib, the only Victoria Cross awardee of J&K State, a memorial function was organised by the Crossed Swords Division of the Army near Akhnoor today.
The function in this connection, commenced with the laying of wreath by the GOC Crossed Swords Division, at the Jamadar Parkash Singh Memorial. On the occasion, the GOC hailed the efforts of the Memorial trust in maintaining the site and interacted with the ex-servicemen and `Veer Naries’.
Paying tributes to the martyred War hero, the GOC declared that the name of Jamadar Parkash Singh Chib has been written in Golden letters in the ‘The Warriors Groove’ war memorial at Akhnoor Garrison and also announced naming of CSD Gate of  Headquarters 10  Inf Division after the brave soldier. More than 200 persons attended the function and paid their homage to the Dogra war hero.
