RAJOURI, Oct 21: Taking stock of the development activities in the Rajouri city, Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Advocate Vibodh Gupta today inspected the ongoing work of Maternity Child Health Care Hospital being established at Old District Hospital Complex Rajouri.
Accompanied by Chief Medical Officer, Rajouri, Dr. Mohd Younis, Bilal Rashid Assistant Director Planning Health and other prominent citizens, Gupta took a round of the whole Complex and found that tiling work was started on the first floor of Old structure, last month, by the J&K Housing Board Agency, but has been stopped in the last week. During the inspection, it was established that work was not executed with a specific plan and drawing. Even the legislators, who raised the issue of MCH time and again in the District Development Board meetings, chaired by Chief Minister last year and Minister for Education Chairman DDB Rajouri in 2016, were not informed by the Agency while taking up the work.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mohd Younis apprised Gupta that the concerned Executive Engineer JK Housing Board issued directions to the contractor to stop the work, as the same work didn’t get accord of administrative approval by the concerned authorities. Moreover, MLC was apprised that Rs. 125 lakh stands released to JK Housing Board in the year 2013 by Director Health Services Jammu, but till date the work could not be completed, reasons best known to executing Agency.
Gupta said that on one side when the State Government headed by Ms. Mehbooba Mufti and Central Government headed by Narender Modi is committed to equitable development of the region and on the other hand agencies are lacking to execute the developmental works properly despite of availability of funds worth in crores.
MLC showed his displeasure over the non-seriousness of the agency towards execution of work. Taking strong note, he on spot talked to the Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education M.K Bhandari and asked him to look into the matter and initiate the enquiry against the Agency for their casual attitude. He also instructed the Chief Medical Officer, Rajouri not to allow the Agency to work further, before they shall find a way out for drainage of the Institution, which is the main concern.
