RAJOURI, Dec 5: Hitting hard at former Chief Ministers, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, who represent National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) respectively, Member Legislative Council (MLC) Adv. Vibodh Gupta asked them to clear their stand on poll boycott as a number of leaders from their parties in Rajouri and Poonch districts have contested Panchayat elections.
Terming it a clear violation of boycott call, he said the State wants to know that whether both the parties have been divided into many small factions or it was a planned strategy to give boycott slogan at one hand and contest election with dummy candidates on the other hand”,.
Gupta was addressing a meeting held in honour of newly elected Panches and Sarpanches from Keriyan Mubarakh Pura Panchayat Halqa.
He said that both National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party remained busy in beating drums of their boycott call for Panchayat election but their leaders have clearly violated the call in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
“District presidents and other senior district level leaders of both parties contested polls in Rajouri and Poonch and many even got elected as Panches,” Vibodh said and added that legislators from party were openly campaigning for candidates in Panchayat elections.
” Both NC and PDP tried to befool people on the name of boycott in Panchayat elections giving plea of 35-A but there were no takers of their call on field and even their leaders boycotted the call,” he added.
He further said that political mood of people in Jammu and Kashmir is swinging towards BJP as party won ULB elections almost everywhere in the State and now large number of party leaders are getting elected as Panches and Sarpanches. He said that Central Government’s efforts to further development, peace and security in the state bore positive result in Local Bodies election.
He also expressed confidence over the efforts of GoI, Jammu and Kashmir Governor administration and officials of all ranks who are engaged in Panchayat election duty.
BJP leader, Kapil Saryal also termed Panchayat elections as an important step towards ground level development of rural area and said that BJP is all set to achieve grand success in upcoming Parliamentary polls and Narendra Modi will again become Prime Minister of country.
