JAMMU, Jan 31: VHP has demanded a probe through a sitting High Court Judge into the offering of fake gold and silver at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, Katra.
The Government should probe the matter through a sitting judge of High Court Judge, VHP patron, Dr Rama Kant Dubey along with general secretary of the organization, Dr Sham and another leader Dr B K Gupta told reporters here today.
He said as per the RTI revelations out of 193 kgs of Gold offered at holy shrine 43 kgs turned to be fake while out of 81,635 kgs of silver 57,000 kgs turned to be fake.
He said over one crore pilgrims visit every year to holy shrine and the revelations have hurt the feelings of devotees. He wanted to know why Board remained tight lipped about the matter in last five years.
He demanded that Board should reveal the facts that how this happened and what is the system of sending gold to Mumbai and silver to Delhi, he added and demanded that the apprehensions created in the minds of devotees should be removed.
