VHP demands increase in duration of Amarnath Yatra

JAMMU, Jan 30: The J&K unit of Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP) has expressed its reservation over year by year decrease in duration of Amarnath Yatra and demanded that the Yatra be started this year from the day of Jestha Purnima and culminated on Shravan Purnima.
The issue was discussed in detail during two-day meeting of VHP, which held here at Ved Mandir premises in Amphalla. The meeting was chaired by regional secretary of VHP, Karuna Parkash.
The meeting resolved that Amarnath Yatra 2017 should be started on Jestha Purnima and culminated on Shravan Purnima. It was also resolved that excessive tax should not be taken from Langar organizers and they should be provided security.
Besides, the participants resolved that the excessive toll tax should not be realized from the vehicles of other States carrying Amarnath pilgrims and excessive fares should not be charged from the Amarnath yatries in SRTC buses. It was also demanded that the yatries be provided registration, medical treatment, Langar facilities and security free of cost.
The meeting also passed resolution for announcing birth anniversary (September 23) of Maharaja Hari Singh as a State holiday and deporting migrants of Burma, Myanmar and Bangladesh, who are illegally staying in Jammu, to their respective countries.
Meanwhile, the VHP announced Shakti Dutt Sharma as provincial vice president, Ajay Manhas as provincial assistant secretary and Abhishek Gupta as provincial assistant treasurer.
