KISHTWAR, Apr 13: Police arrested a road side vendor for raping a 5-year-old girl, here today.
As per police sources, a 5-year-old girl had gone to purchase some sweets from a road side vendor. Finding the girl alone, the vendor took the girl to nearby room and raped her.
After returning home, the girl narrated the ordeal to her parents, who reported the matter to police and accordingly a case under FIR Number 59/17 under Section 376 RPC was registered at Kishtwar Police Station and investigation started.
Police arrested the accused, who has been identified as Ishtiaq Ahmed, son of Ghulam Abass, a resident of Akhyarabad, District Kishtwar.
The girl has been handed over to family members after conducting medical examination and further investigation into the case is going on.
