JAMMU, Feb 28: Janipur police under ‘Operation Chetak’ arrested a vehicle lifter.
As per police sources, on February 22 this year, a complaint was filed by Abdul Raheem Rather, son of Abdul Kabeer Rather of Veersaran Pahalgam Srinagar, at present Roop Nagar with Police Station Janipur stating that some unknown persons have stolen his Tavera car bearing registration number JK03C-7051 from near Green Land Palace Lower Roop Nagar.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 18/18 under relevant Sections of law was registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation started.
During the course of investigation several suspects were rounded up and out of them, one of the suspects broke down and confessed that he had committed the theft.
Police arrested the accused, who has been identified as Umar Mir, son of Ghulam Hussain Mir of Pull Doda, at present Lakshmi Puram Chinore.
On his disclosure, police recovered 3 cars and 3 motorcycles, which he along with associates had stolen from different areas.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Janipur SI Bimal Indu made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Jammu Rajpaul Singh, SP City Dr Vinod Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
