Veervan Colony of Baramulla

North Kashmir’s Baramulla district where at Veervan area, there is a colony for Kashmiri Pandits, needs attention of the Government in respect of addressing space constraints and improvement in providing basic facilities as the inmates are complaining about both.
Located at a distance of two kilometres away from main Baramulla town, there is a colony built to house employees appointed under Prime Minister’s special package for Kashmiri migrants. It is reported that this colony lacks certain civic amenities or improvement in the existing facilities and the inmates want the State Administration to address them. Healthcare, clean drinking water, sanitation and space like issues need to be improved to make living conditions better.
Essential supplies also do not reportedly reach here regularly or are to be arranged from outside the colony. The residents feel that new employees appointed do not have enough space here and some employees including females had to live in rented accommodation outside the colony. Some new quarters to be built had been decided by the Government to tide over the space constraints regarding which orders have not been issued as yet or the work has not started. The Government, therefore, is required to look into these problems faced by the employees in this colony, at an early date.
