JAMMU, Dec 6: Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri and Speaker, Assembly Kavinder Gupta inspected the ongoing works of new Assembly Complex, here today.
Deputy Speaker, Assembly Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, Legislators Sat Sharma, Rajeev Jasrotia, Commissioner Secretary PWD (R&B) Sanjeev Verma, Secretary Assembly M R Singh, G M JKPCC and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
While taking brief review of the progress on the works, the Minister asked the G M JKPCC to speed up the works and ensure its completion by ending November 2018 so that this prestigious complex would be ready for conducting next Assembly session.
“The works on this new complex needs to be expedited for its timely completion and for making this complex functional for Assembly related activities”, the Minister said.
Veeri also directed to ensure sufficient seating arrangements for lawmakers, officers, media persons and visitors, besides proper ventilation, lighting and heating arrangements for smooth conduct of Assembly proceedings.
The Minister said that there is sufficient funds are available and required funds would be released soon for smooth execution of all related works but the works needs to be completed at the earliest even if there is a need for carrying out the works in double shift.
“Deadline fixed for the completion of the project should be taken seriously and all the works needs to be carried out accordingly”, the Minister said.
Speaker, Kavinder Gupta asked the concerned officers to ensure proper seating arrangements for the legislators with all required facilities besides provision of meeting halls in the complex. He said that all pending works needs to be expedited for its timely completion.
On the occasion, it was apprised that the complex has a total area of 23465 square metres with two basements, 2 floors for Legislative Assembly and 2 floors for Legislative Council. The new complex will also be connected with the Secretariat building and the existing Assembly complex.
