SRINAGAR, July 27: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri today directed the officers to ensure time bound completion of various projects so that these get completed within the stipulated time and also without any cost escalation.
The Minister was speaking at a review meeting of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department here today.
Chief Engineer R&B, Kashmir, Satish Kumar Razdan, Chief Engineer ERA, Malik Basharat Ahmad, District SEs and Executive Engineers from all the districts of the Kashmir division were present.
Mr Veeri directed for maximum utilization of funds allotted to developmental works for the current fiscal by fast pacing of them. He said that due to limited working season in the Valley these are not being utilized to the maximum and the onus lies on them to ensure that the major chunk of the funds is utilized. “The most of the working season has passed and concerted efforts are needed this year to ensure the maximum utilization of the funds which can ensure the completion of these initiatives”, he added.
The Minister took detailed review of the developmental works carried out in Kashmir division and sought details of projects proposed for the current financial year. He also directed for taking up and completion of various proposed bridges around Kashmir maintaining that these are essential for ensuring connectivity of different villages and areas of the division.
The meeting was informed about the status of macadamization and building or renovation of bridges in Kashmir under various sectors including NABARD, CRF, Chief Minister’s Commitments, State Sector and District Sector.
Veeri sought latest information from the concerned AEEs and SEs present in the meeting and directed immediate taking up and completion of the proposed targets. He stressed upon the concerned officials that since there was limited time left in the current developmental season for the set targets to be achieved, they must put all efforts and machinery into practice.
Mr Veeri stressed upon for balanced development in all the districts. He asked the engineers of Srinagar city to carry out a developmental survey of the city within a week.
