VC Kissan Board calls on Union MoS Agriculture

JAMMU, Nov 15: Vice Chairman  State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans, Daljit Singh Chib, called on  Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Farmers Welfare & Panchayati Raj Gajendra Singh Shekhawat  at  New Delhi and  discussed various issues of  the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir.
He apprised the Union Minister that Agriculture Sector in  State  needs attention on priority  and requested  that there is a need to open more Krishi Vigyan Kendras in the State  for development of new agricultural practices and technologies suitable for agroclimate of State besides it will also help in capacity building, skill development, improving socio-economic condition of the farmers .
Vice Chairman  said  that opening of procurement Mandies  was a historic decision of the Centre which has given a new lease of life to the farmers of the country and which has helped to check  black marketing and interventions of middlemen. He requested the Union Minister  for providing  sufficient funds to State Government for establishment of such type of Permanent Procurement Mandies in the State.
The Union Minister  assured the Vice Chairman of  every possible help to the State in  improving  the condition of the farmers. He further assured that more Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Research Centres will be established in the State of Jammu and Kashmir besides providing possible help for establishment of Permanent Procurement Mandies.
