VC JDA inspects Tawi river front

JAMMU, May 16: Vice Chairman (VC), Jammu Development Authority (JDA) Rajesh Kumar Shavan visited river Tawi and inspected the front sites. He was accompanied by the members of the Tawi Andolan Manch who intend to organize Maha Yagya on May 26.
VC JDA visited various sites and instructed the engineering wing to extend the support by leveling the site and periphery to conduct the Yagya.
Speaking on the occasion, the VC JDA said that Government is very keen about the development of the Tawi river front and the DPR is under process for this mega project on the pattern of Sabarmati River Front Development. He sought cooperation of the Manch for launching eviction drive against the unauthorized occupants and expected that Tawi Andolan Manch will extend full support to the JDA in this mission.
Those who were present were Advocate Chander Mohan Sharma, Convener, Tawi Andolan Manch, Subash Gupta, Shushpal Singh, Joginder Khajuria and Rakesh Kumar.
Meanwhile, President of Raghunath Bazar Association Surinder Mahajan also demanded that the JDA should take all possible steps to check the use of polythene and other non-biodegradable items to save the city and the river Tawi from pollution.
VC JDA assured to take the requisite steps and further asked for the detailed action plan from the Engineering Wing.
