Various steps taken for development of Chechi Devi Shrine: Committee

SAMBA, Nov 9: Management Committee Chichi Devi Devasthan Nandni (Samba) while highlighting its achievements, said the Committee has taken number of initiatives for development of Devasthan.
In a statement issued here today by K L Mahajan working president of the Committee said besides the prohibition, dress code has been ordered for pujaris and employees of the Devasthan.
No pilgrim can visit the holy shrine without covering his head besides deployment of security staff for the security of the shrine and pilgrims visiting there from different parts of J&K and neighboring states.
He said presently a free Ayurvedic Dispensary is also functioning at Devasthan with an experienced doctor where besides free treatment to patients they are also given medicines free of cost.
He said a 12 feet high statue of Lord Ganesha has been installed in the Devasthan which is great source of attraction for the devotees who come here to pay their obeisance to him.
Mr Mahajan said a Navgrah Vatica has also been developed by the Committee at the shrine covering 27 kanals of land and the discarded hall has also been renovated in the Shrine premises.
He said besides a free langer is also served to yatris throughout the year and special arrangements are made for yatris during Navratras and Amarnath pilgrimage.
