Various institutions celebrate NSS Foundation Day

JAMMU, Sept 24: Various institutions celebrated NSS Foundation Day with enthusiasm and fervour, here today.
The NSS Unit of GDC, Akhnoor celebrated NSS Foundation Day with pomp and show today. The Programme was organized by NSS unit of the college under the guidance of Prof. Surinder singh Parihar NSS Programme Officer. The Programme started with lightening of the traditional lamp followed by saraswati vandana. The theme of the programme was” Beti Bachao and Beti Padao”. On the occasion volunteers actively participated in various activities related to the theme i.e Symposium, Slogan, Writing, Songs etc. In the event of symposium 10 volunteers participated and  Deepika Sharma, Riya Sharma, Anju Devi were declared Ist, 2nd and 3rd respectively . In the slogan writing event  Roshni Devi, Neha Manhas, Priya Sharma were declared Ist, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Earlier, NSS Programme officer Prof. Surinder Singh Parihar in his inaugural speech highlites the legacy importance and achievements of the NSS at various levels.
Principal of the College Prof. (Dr) S P Sharma was the chief guest of the Programme.
NSS Volunteers of GCW Parade celebrated NSS Foundation Day in its College Auditorium, today.
Principal of the College, Dr Renu Goswami was the chief guest on the occasion, while the programme began with a welcome address by senior most NSS Programme Officer Richpal Singh, who threw light on the historical background, aims and objectives of NSS.
NSS Unit of Trikuta Degree College today celebrated the NSS Foundation Day in the college premises. “An awareness programme” was organized in this connection to give the understanding of National Service Scheme especially to the
Sunita Magotra, Principal of the College welcomed the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Dr Roop Lal Sharma, Chairman of Trikuta Degree College was the chief Guest on the occasion.
NSS Day was celebrated in Government Degree College for Women, Kathua, with great fervour and enthusiasm to mark the launching of National Service Scheme. A two day camp was organized on this eve. On first day, ,an awareness camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Kathua, for NSS volunteers organized awareness camp regarding Red Cross Movement, its basic fundamental principles. NSS Programme Officer, Madhvi Parasher welcomed the guests and NSS volunteers, Dr. Satinder  Singh, Principal of the college, in his address appreciated the role of Red Cross Society in creating awareness among society ,Particularly, the students, about  First Medical Responder.
On second day, at the outset, NSS Programme Officer,  Madhvi Parasher, welcomed the guests and highlighted importance of NSS Day celebration . Prof  Ram Murti Sharma, Principal, Bhagat Kabir College of Education, Kathua was the chief guest on the occasion, who delivered a keynote lecture on role and history of NSS incommunity capacity building and betterment.
NSS foundation day was celebrated by the NSS unit of Government Degree College Kalakote, today. Principal, Prof Kuldeep Raj Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion who started the function by enlightening the traditional lamp followed by the Saraswati Vandana by NSS volunteers of the college.
Prof Kuldeep Raj Sharma in his address impressed upon the students to share the social responsibilities for sharpening their lives and increasing self confidence in addition to the academics. Various NSS Volunteers spoke on NSS and performed cultural activities on the occasion. Prof Ruchi Sharma conducted the proceedings of the programme.
NSS day was celebrated in GDC Thanamandi with great pomp and show. MLA Rajouri Ch Qammar Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion while SDPO Thannamandi Ifthar Talib was the guest of honour. Principal of the college Dr B B Sharma presided over the function. A cultural programme was presented by NSS volunteers to mark the NSS day which was highly appreciated by the audience.
GDC Samba celebrated NSS Day with great fervour in its campus. The Programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana and Oath ceremony.  Ridha  Sambyal  of B.A. Part-IIIrd  spoke at length about the aim of N.S.S. A spectacular cultural programme was presented  by the N.S.S. Volunteers.  Kajal and Ajay Singh shared their views regarding their camp held at Himachal Pradesh. Ruhi  and Pooja Sambyal recited patriotic poem.
On the occasion Dr. Romesh Chander, Principal of college was the chief guest.
NSS Unit of GCOE Jammu in collaboration with the M.Ed Department of the College observed NSS Foundation day and World Environment Health Day. On the eve an essay competition was organized on the topic “World Environment Health Day” in which all the M.Ed Students participated whole heartedly. The essays were evaluated by the team of experts of the college comprising of Prof. Sunita Gupta, Prof. Sindu Kapoor and Prof. Tahira Shah.
The Principal of the college Dr. Koushal Samotra stressed on being a real social worker.
The 1st prize for the essay writing was bagged by Pankhuri Khajuria, 2nd prize by Anamika Sharma and the 3rd by Anjali Sudan.
In the end of the function the vote of thanks was given by the NSS Programme Officer of the College Prof. Ashu Jolly.
NSS units of Govt. Degree College, Kathua celebrated NSS day today on September 24, 2014 in the college Auditorium. On this occasion, NSS units organized a symposium on the topic “Role of Youth in Social Service” and a cultural programme on National and social consciousness by way of  one act play “Kathputli”, Western Solo Dance,  Cultural Dance of Maharashtra,  Patriotic Dance and Punjabi Bhangra.
The programme began with the welcome of the worthy guest, faculty members and students of the college, followed by lighting of the traditional lamp. Dr. Ram Singh, Programme officer presented the welcome address.  Dr. B.L. Gupta, Principal of the college was the chief guest of the function.
