JAMMU, July 14: The Valley Posted Migrant Employees (VPME) held a protest demonstration in front of Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner’s Office here, today under the aegis of Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) and demanded that the Valley posted migrant employees and those who are to join their duties be declared at par with migrant employees.
The protest was held under the leadership of R K Bhat president, YAIKS. The protesters termed the return, relief and rehabilitation package for Kashmiri Pandits a mere eye wash. They demanded permanent settlement of the employees.
Addressing the protesters R K Bhat said that successive Governments have totally failed to ensure safety and rehabilitation of 2000 migrant employees appointed under the so called PM’s rehabilitation package announced way back in 2008. He said when the Government could not rehabilitate the 2000 employees its claims about the return and rehabilitation of entire community seems totally hollow. Instead of giving proper healing touch to the hapless employees, they are being harassed by the administration by issuing show -cause notices, delay in disbursement of salaries, unnecessarily deducting HRA etc, when it is the responsibility of the Government to provide accommodation to them.
The protesters demanded that the entire structure of the PM’s rehabilitation package be relooked into by holding a meaningful dialogue with concerned representatives of the community. They said it is strange that remaining jobs out of 6000 posts to be filled under PM’s package have not been filled up during last nine years including the 221 writ petitioners.
Later, the protesters submitted a memorandum to Relief and Rehabilitation Commiss-ioner M L Raina reiterating the demand that Valley posted migrant employees and those who are about to join their duties be treated at par with migrant employees till normalcy is fully restored in Kashmir. The RRC assured the delegation that he will take up the issue with higher authorities.
B K Bhat , Sunil Koul, Manoj Handoo, Sanjay Ganjoo, Ajay Safaya, Rakesh Fotedar, Vinod Bhat, Rakesh Bachloo, Kuldeep Pandita, and Mohan Lal Comrade were among others who addressed the demonstrators.
