USTA discusses demands

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 13: The provincial body of J&K United School Teachers’ Association (USTA) today discussed long pending demands of teaching community in its meeting held here under the chairmanship of Hari Singh, provincial president.
During the meeting, the speakers expressed their anguish over the travesty of justice prevailing in matter of transfers in the education department and demanded suitable repatriation of masters, lecturers and principals, who have completed their tenure in Reasi, old Doda, Leh and Kargil districts.
They further demanded that these categories of employees be transferred from far flung areas to districts of winter zones. The meeting also expressed its concern over the fact that DPC conducted in February 2014 in respect of 1193 masters has become more a faux pas than the actual promotions, as about 150 blue eyed masters out of them have been adjusted on clear vacancies while the rest are languishing with adjustments.
USTA also demanded early release of senior teacher grade in favour of undergraduate teachers, regularization of lecturers, headmasters and principals, expedition of regularization process of ReTs and KGVB teachers, release of pending salary and 6th Pay Commission installments, grant for teachers working under SSA/RMSA, clearing MDM pending charges, debarring teachers from non-academic duties and filling vacant posts in schools of rural areas.
The meeting appealed the authorities to concede the demands of the employees at an earliest otherwise the association will be left with no option other than resorting to agitational path.
