US pastor freed by Turkey meets Trump

WASHINGTON, Oct 14: The US pastor, Andrew Brunson has met President Donald Trump at the White House after being released by the Turkey.
Mr Brunson thanked the president and his administration for securing his release – and prayed for him, reports BBC.
Earlier President Trump also thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for helping with the release of Andrew Brunson.
He called the release of Brunson as a “tremendous step” towards a “great relationship” with Turkey.

Mr Brunson was arrested over alleged links to political groups, including the banned Gulenist movement, after a failed coup attempt in 2016.

In the Oval Office, the pastor kneeled down to pray for Mr Trump and called him the great blessing to the US.

After getting released,he now wishes to spend time with his family and children.

Pastor Brunson’s detention had affected the relations between Washington and Ankara badly and as a result both sides imposed sanctions on each other.

But in recent weeks, Mr Erdogan said that he hoped to rebuild relations with Washington with the “spirit of strategic partnership”.
