Uptick in demand lifts castor seed futures

NEW DELHI, June 12: Castor seed prices rose  By 0.51 per cent to Rs 3,916 per quintal in futures market today as speculators raised their bets, taking positive cues from spot market on pick-up in demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castor seed for delivery in July was trading higher by Rs 20, or 0.51 per cent to Rs 3,916 per quintal with an open interest of 1,05,650 lots.
In a similar fashion, the delivery for June contracts gained Rs 19, or 0.49 per cent to Rs 3,870 per quintal in 3,670 lots.
Market analysts said expanding of positions by participants due to pick-up in demand from consuming industries at the physical markets against restricted supplies from growing regions, mainly pushed up castor seed prices at futures trade. (PTI)
