JAMMU, Mar 6:  A large number of Female Multi-purpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) staged protest demonstration in front of the office of Director Health Services here today.
The female Health Workers under the banner of  Jammu Kashmir Female Multi-purpose Health Workers Association, affiliated to Jammu and Kashmir Medical Employees Federation assembled outside the office of  Director Health Service Jammu and started protest demonstration. They were demanding pending wages of 14 months in favour of FMPHWs (working under- 2211). They alleged that despite repeated requests to the higher authorities, their salary has not been paid for the last 14 months.
Babli Sharma, president of the  FMPHWs  Association was leading the protest while Sushil Sudan president JKMEF also addressed the gathering. Sudan while speaking on the occasion urged upon the Health and Medical Education Minister to release the pending wages of the FMPHWs. He said that despite repeated representations to the Director, nothing has been done in this regard.
Mrs Sharma demanded that the issue of release of salary be sorted out once for all and salary be drawn on monthly basis. The adhoc system of providing wages be stopped as it amounts to the victimization of the workers. She also demanded that atleast 60 % quota of Health Educators be given for promotion to FMPHWs and all the posts of LHVs be filled by promoting FMPHWs.
