Bhanu, Rajinder win Bronze medals

JAMMU, Nov 1: Union Sports Minister Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore gave warm welcome to the Indian Wushu team at SAI Headquarters for the excellent performance in the World cup held at Hangzhou.
The Indian Wushu Team secured 4 medals (Silver and 3 Bronze) in the World cup at Hangzhou, China. The team was headed by Kuldeep Handoo, National Chief Coach of India and Inspector in Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Rathore congratulated the coach and the players for brining the laurels for the country in the prestigious World Cup and in the Asian Games. He directed the SAI and MYAs officials for the full support to the Wushu and Establishment of 2 to 3 dedicated centres of Wushu in different places.
He congratulated the Wushu Association of India Bhupender Singh Bajwa, President and Suhel Ahmed General Secretary for the wonderful job.
The Indian team comprised 2 players from Jammu and Kashmir, who secured 2 Bronze medals in the World Cup at Hangzhou (China). Surya Bhanu Partap Singh and Rajinder Singh secured bronze medals in the 60 and Below 90 kg respectively. Both the Players have qualified for the event during the 14th World Wushu championship at Kazan (Russia) 2017.
The medalists are K Arunpama Devi (Silver), Pooja Kadian (Bronze), Surya Bhanu Partap Singh (Bronze) and Rajinder Singh (Bronze).
Earlier, Secretary Sports Rahul Bhatnagar congratulated the Indian Wushu team at his office in New Delhi. During his interaction with the National Chief Coach Kuldeep Handoo and the Indian Wushu team medalists, he assured establishment of National Academy for Wushu. He apprised the Deputy Director General SAI Omkar Singh Kadia who was also present on the occasion for the job.
The coach and the 2 medalists were given warm reception at Jammu Airport by the Wushu enthusiasts. Former Minister and MLA Choudhary Lal Singh also felicitated the coach and the players of the Jammu and Kashmir. He congratulated the medalists, the coach and appealed the youth of the State to be fit and choose sports and earn name and fame for the country and the state at International level.
The Office bearers of Wushu Association of J&K S Owais, HK Lohia, Yogesh Sawhney, Aushtosh Sharma, Vijay Saraf, Ranjeet Kalra, Deepak Handa, Sadat Nasir Wani, Gautam Gupta, Bhavneet, Sunil Sharma and Sohit Sharma have congratulated the medalists players and coach in the World Cup.
