JAMMU, Mar 11: Union Power Secretary and CMD  NHPC Limited today visited  Salal Power Station at the time when it has been generating highest ever power since commissioning (719 MW) against the installed capacity of 690 MW.
A K Bhalla, Union Power Secretary; Balraj Joshi, Chairman & Managing Director, NHPC Limited and S Kalgaonkar, Executive Director, Region Jammu, accompanied by General Manager, Salal Power Station, Himanshu Shekhar, visited various components of the Power Station like Dam, Power House, Tail Race Tunnel etc. At Power House, the visiting team was apprised about the Operation and Maintenance activities of the Power Station by Shekhar through Power Point Present-ation.
General Manager, Salal apprised Union Power Secretary that the achievement of 719 MW could be made possible owing to modernization of the Power House by way of installation of modified Runners, installation of new digital Governors, Excitation System to enhance the performance of the Power House.  Shekhar further informed that installation of SCADA System to improve the operation and control of the Power Station in a more efficient manner is in the pipeline and shall be installed shortly.
Speaking on the occasion,  Union Power Secretary appreciated initiatives taken by Salal Team under the leadership of  Balraj Joshi, Chairman & Managing Director, NHPC Limited for improving the performance of the Power Station and expressed happiness to visit Salal to witness the historic moments of highest ever generation.
Earlier, the visiting team was welcomed by Himanshu Shekhar, General Manager, Salal Power Station and other Senior Officers from NHPC, CISF and Civil Administration at Ramleela Ground, Jyotipuram where a Guard of Honour was accorded by CISF to the Union Power Secretary.
