JAMMU, June 28: All Jammu and Kashmir Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union, Jammu, has expressed its grave concern over the death of two officials of the Electric Department and serious injuries to another official due to electric shock while working on an electric pole in village Seri-Panditan in outskirts of Jammu city, here yesterday.
The union, led by its president Tara Chand Lakhotra, has demanded adequate financial assistance in respect of ex-gratia and compensation to the victims as well as injured besides conducting investigation to identify the defaulters responsible for such incident for action under rules.
Further, the union members along with a large number of locals of the area, visited Government Medical College & Hospital Jammu to ascertain the condition of the injured official.
They met SDM Jammu North, Avni Bala, who was also visiting GMC & Hospital for inquiring about condition of the injured Lineman and assured the union members all possible help to the victims with prompt action.
The union reiterated that the Department should take all measures to ensure safety of the Linemen so that such incident may not occur in future.
