JAMMU, Jan 29: Highlighting their demand of implementation of Rehbar-e-Khel Scheme in the State as promised by former Chief Minister, Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, scores of unemployed youth of Physical Education took a protest march from MA Stadium to Press Club, here today.
Protesting under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Unemployed Physical Education and Sports Association, youth demanded immediate implementation of the Scheme, which they said is pending since 2005.
Chief spokesperson of JKUPESA said that the Government should take immediate steps to implement Order No. 48/EDU.Tech 2005 dated 16/05/2005 with regard to State Policy of declaring Physical Education and Sports as compulsory subject, adding that the implementation would benefit around 6,000 to 7,000 unemployed youth.
Raja Sonu, Secretary JKUPESA said the Minister for Sports, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari has already send the proposal to the Finance Department, but the Department has yet to give it financial clearance, adding to the woes of these unemployed youth and leaving them to lurch.
The protesters raised slogans against the concerned authorities and appealed the Chief Minister to take initiatives with regard to implementation of the Rehbar-e-Khel Scheme in letter and spirit.
