Srinagar, Feb 20: Unemployed Male Multi-Purpose Health Workers (MMPHWs) today staged a protest here and demanded advertising of job posts in Health Department.
The unemployed MMPHWs assembled here in press enclave and said unlike their female counterparts, their job posts have not been advertised by the Government, which is against State and Central Government order. The protesters were chanting slogans like ‘we want justice’ and ‘fulfill our demand’.
“It is ironical that they are only advertising and posting female workers and not male workers. From past five to six years, the Health Department has not advertised MMPHWs posts even as there is clear order from both State and Centre that one female and male multi-purpose health workers should be posted at every sub-centre,” said Sajjad Hussain, one of the unemployed health workers.
He said that they in the past met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Health Minister Bali Baghat but so far there is no breakthrough. “We appeal Government authorities to kindly advertise these posts to save our fututure,” the protesters added.
