DODA, Aug 29: An undertrial and four cops were injured, when the vehicle of Police Department, they were traveling in, skidded off the road and plunged into gorge at Karara, here this morning.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK17-2094 of District Police Kishtwar carrying policemen and undertrial was on its way to Doda from Kishtwar, when the driver lost control over the steering and it plunged into gorge near Karara, resulting in injuries to all the five occupants.
The policemen were taking the undertrial to the Court for his presence in a case, when the accident took place.
After getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot, rescued the injured persons and shifted them to District Hospital (DH) Doda, where their condition was stated to be stable, when reports last came in.
The injured have been identified as ASI Sham Lal, HC Suresh Kumar, Asadullah and Subash Kumar, constables and undertrial namely Abdul Latief, son of Alaf Din of Dessa.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at concerned police station and investigation started.
