UMC launches anti-encroachment drive

UDHAMPUR, Jan 10: An anti encroachment drive was conducted today by Udhampur Municipality Council  throughout the Udhampur city to clear traffic congestion caused due to encroachments.
A team of Udhampur Municipality Council, comprising Khilafwarji officer Kuldeep Raj, Assistant Khilafwarji officer Inder Parkash, Ashok Sharma and SHO Udhampur Sanjeev Gupta with police team and other staff members of the Municipality Council, launched the drive and removed encroachments.
The UMC had already started a public awareness campaign and made announcements through loud speakers in the city well before conducting the anti-encroachment drive.  The UMC had also made appeal to all the shopkeepers for removing their encroachments especially from footpaths/pavements.
The objective of the campaign is to aware general public about sanitation, encroachments of footpaths/pavements, illegal constructions and lanes/drains/ nallahs etc.
