Srinagar, Nov 15: A massive protest was today held by employees of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) against State Government for failing to redress their long pending demands including settlement of pension cases and regularization.(Clik here to watch video)
A strike and protest call was given by Jammu and Kashmir Urban Local Bodies Employees United Forum. Due to the protest call, all municipal institutions of Kashmir Division along with Directorate of Urban Local Bodies suspended their work. As per the call, hundreds of ULB employees assembled in press enclave and staged a protest against the Government’s failure to address their demands.
The president of ULB Employees Forum, Manzoor Ahmad Pampori, said that they are protesting over series of demands including settlement of pension cases, regularization of CPWs, rationalization and other cases.
The employees raised slogans in favour of their demands and against the Government apathy. The employees warned that if their demands are not addressed, they in consultation with all trade unions of the State will conduct a general meeting of the ULB Forum to devise course of future strategy. The protests were also held by ULBs employees at district headquarters of the Valley.
